The Yonex Astrox series is Yonex's power range: head-heavy badminton rackets built for steep, heavy smashes and continuous attack. Central Sports stocks the full current Astrox line-up, from the tour-level Astrox 100ZZ and Astrox 99 Pro to the doubles-focused Astrox 88D and 88S Pro, the all-round Astrox 77 and the accessible Astrox Nextage. Many models are available with a free restring.
Which Astrox racket should I choose?
Astrox 100ZZ: the most powerful and demanding Astrox, with a very slim shaft and stiff flex. For advanced players with a fast swing.
Astrox 99 Pro: maximum smash power from a head-heavy balance. A favourite of singles attackers.
Astrox 88D Pro: designed for the back-court doubles player, with weight in the head for repeated smashes.
Astrox 88S Pro: the front-court partner to the 88D, with a slightly faster feel for interceptions and net play.
Astrox 77: a forgiving, head-heavy all-rounder that suits improving club players.
Astrox Nextage: Astrox power in a more forgiving frame, ideal for intermediate players stepping up.
Astrox is built for power. Nanoflare rackets are head-light for speed, and Arcsaber rackets are balanced for control. If you mainly attack from the back of the court, Astrox is usually the right series.
Yonex Astrox FAQs
What does 3U and 4U mean? It is the racket's weight class. 3U is roughly 85–89g and 4U is roughly 80–84g. 4U is lighter and quicker; 3U adds power and stability. See our 3U vs 4U vs 5U guide.
Is the Astrox range good for beginners? The stiffer, more head-heavy models can be demanding. Beginners and improvers usually get on better with the Astrox Nextage or Astrox 77.
