Central Sports is a UK racket sports specialist, built by players for players. We have been fitting badminton players with the right racket, shoes and strings since 1983, and today we serve badminton, tennis, padel, squash and pickleball players online and in our stores.
Our story
Central Sports was founded in 1983 by two badminton enthusiasts, Chris Jones and Paul Cooper. It is now one of three independent racket sports shops that came together as YC Sports Group:
- Maurice Robinson Sports, founded in 1947 in Kings Heath, Birmingham, by Maurice Robinson, a former badminton, tennis and cricket player.
- Central Sports, founded in 1983 by Chris Jones and Paul Cooper.
- YC Sports, founded in 1983 in Cardiff by YC Lim, a former Wales number one in badminton who played at the 1978 Commonwealth Games.
Between the three shops, that is more than 75 years of racket sports know-how under one roof.
