When choosing a Federer tennis racket, weight is the key decision. The heavier RF 01 Pro suits strong, experienced players with full swings; the RF 01 is a versatile all-rounder; and the lighter Future models are easier to swing for improving players and those wanting more help with power. Grip size matters too, so ask us if you are unsure. Our Roger Federer racket guide explains his racket history, and our best Wilson tennis rackets guide compares the wider range. Visit our shops in Cardiff, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Hereford to see them in person, or order online for UK delivery.
Roger Federer racket FAQs
What racket did Roger Federer use?
Roger Federer used Wilson rackets throughout his professional career. He is most closely associated with the Wilson Pro Staff, using a 90 square inch head for many years before switching to the larger Pro Staff RF97 Autograph later in his career. Wilson later launched the RF 01 series in partnership with him.
Is the Wilson RF 01 the same as Federer's racket?
Not exactly. The RF 01 series is a newer line created by Wilson with Federer, inspired by his game and design taste, rather than a copy of the Pro Staff he played with. It comes in several weights, from the RF 01 Pro for advanced players to the lighter Future and Future Lite for developing players.
Which Roger Federer racket is best for beginners?
Beginners and improving players usually get on best with the lighter models, such as the RF 01 Future (280g) or RF 01 Future Lite (265g), which are easier to swing and manoeuvre. The heavier RF 01 Pro suits experienced players with faster, full swings. If you are unsure, our team can help you choose.
