The Difference Between Yonex Aerus Z and X

The Difference Between Yonex Aerus Z and X

Looking for the perfect badminton shoe? The Yonex Astrox Z2 and X2 are trusted by players at every level, but what sets them apart? We’ve broken down the key differences so you can choose the right fit for your game, whether you’re after maximum agility, cushioning, or all-around performance.

Feature Aerus Z Aerus X
Weight / Lightness One of Yonex’s lightest shoes. Uses special materials (e.g. Feather Bounce Foam or Feather Light X) to reduce weight while keeping comfort. Still lightweight, but less extreme. Focused more on comfort and value over ultra-light weight.
Cushioning / Shock Absorption Uses Power Cushion+ which gives enhanced shock absorption and energy return. Designed for high-impact, fast footwork. Uses standard Power Cushion cushioning. Less “premium” absorption than Power Cushion+, but still solid.
Upper Design / Breathability More advanced: seamless upper, lighter mesh materials (Durable Skin Light + Double Raschel Mesh) for better fit, breathability and lighter feel. Shares some of upper design: may have seamless upper etc., but simpler construction and fewer premium materials.
Stability Features More stability tech: Graphite plate / Power Graphite Drive to reduce twisting, plus better sole design and grip. Less in terms of high-end stability features; more basic sole and grip. Good enough, but not at the level Z aims for.
Target User / Price Position For advanced players or those who want top-tier speed, agility, and willing to pay more. For players who want lightweight shoes, nice comfort and value. More “affordable” in the Aerus line.

Summary:

  • The Aerus Z is the premium, performance-oriented model: ultra-lightweight, better cushioning, more advanced materials and stability tech.

  • The Aerus X is the lighter, more affordable option: good comfort, decent performance, but not quite as advanced as the Z.
