Tennis Rackets

Q: What is the best tennis racket for a beginner?

Beginners should choose a larger head size (100-106 sq in) for a bigger sweet spot, a lighter frame (260-285g) for easier swinging, and a head-light or even balance. Models like the Babolat Boost Drive, Head Ti.S6, Wilson Clash 100 and Yonex Ezone 100 are forgiving and help develop technique.

Q: What head size should I choose?

Midsize (under 97 sq in) gives control for advanced players. Mid-plus (98-104 sq in) is the all-round sweet spot for club players. Oversize (105 sq in+) gives maximum power and forgiveness, ideal for beginners.

Frequently asked questions about tennis rackets

What is the best tennis racket for a beginner?

Beginners should choose a larger head size (100–106in²) for a bigger sweet spot, a lighter frame (260–285g) for easier swinging, and a slightly head-light or even balance. Popular beginner-friendly models include the Babolat Boost Drive, Head Ti.S6, Wilson Clash 100 and Yonex Ezone 100. These are forgiving and help develop technique without arm strain.

What head size should I choose?

Head size affects power and forgiveness. Midsize (under 97in²) gives control for advanced players. Mid-plus (98–104in²) is the all-round sweet spot for most club players. Oversize (105in²+) gives maximum power and forgiveness — ideal for beginners and improvers.

How heavy should my tennis racket be?

Lighter rackets (260–285g) are easier to swing and suit beginners, juniors and players who want manoeuvrability. Mid-weight (285–305g) is the all-rounder for club players. Heavier player's rackets (305g+) give more stability, control and plough-through for advanced, technically grooved players.

Do you offer free restringing with new tennis rackets?

Yes — free professional restringing is included on most premium rackets, and discounted on all others. We string in store and by post to your chosen string and tension, with fast turnaround. See our racket restringing service.
